What are injectable threads and how do they work?

Using a fine needle, soluble PDO (polydioxanone) threads are placed under the skin to lift, tighten and improve its structure, tone and texture. The presence of the threads in the tissues initiates a direct healing response, stimulating collagen production whilst encouraging synthesis of elastin and hyaluronic acid in the skin, both of which are vital for keeping the skin looking plump and youthful. The threads dissolve slowly over the course of 3-4 months, leaving bands of collagen in their place.

What results should I expect?

The effects of the treatment may develop gradually, with the optimum result reached after approximately 3 – 4 months. Over time, the PDO thread lift gently lifts and repositions tissues, resulting in a more youthful looking appearance. Hollow cheeks appear fuller, while any sagging skin is lifted and wrinkles are eased. Results generally last approximately 12 – 36 months, depending on the age of the patient at the time of procedure and how much sagging the thread lift has corrected.
